Cigna Coverage Availability & Fees
Cigna offers several different dental plans, and they vary in their coverage for a range of services. We encourage you to take a look at your policy to learn more about how it works. Generally, though, you can expect up to 100% coverage for preventive care at your general dentist’s office, as well as 50 – 80% coverage for most restorative services.
So how does dental insurance apply to orthodontia? Again, that can vary. Some Cigna plans provide up to 50% coverage for orthodontic services, up to the amount of the plan’s lifetime orthodontic maximum. For many patients, that means their benefits can reduce their out-of-pocket cost by hundreds of dollars or more.
Keep in mind as well that Cigna may enforce a waiting period before you can use your plan for braces or other teeth-straightening treatments. In other words, you might have to hold your policy for 12 months before you become eligible for orthodontic coverage.
